Community guidelines
Reading groups in Glyph are small places where people talk about a book together. These are the
rules everyone agrees to when they create an account.
What's welcome
- Talking about the book: arguments, theories, complaints, favourite lines.
- Disagreement. People read the same page differently, and that's most of the point.
- Groups with their own character. A Scribe sets the pace, the schedule, and the house style.
What isn't
- Harassment. Targeting someone, piling on, or following them between groups.
- Hate speech. Slurs or attacks based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability,
gender, sexual orientation, or national origin. This one is screened automatically on every
post, in every group, whatever a group's own language setting says.
- Threats or encouragement of violence or self-harm, including toward yourself.
- Sexual content involving minors, in any form, real or fictional. This ends an
account immediately and is reported onward.
- Explicit sexual content and gratuitous gore. Discussing a book that contains
them is fine; posting them is not.
- Piracy. Don't paste chapters, don't share files, don't link to places that do.
Quote a passage to discuss it, not to redistribute it.
- Spam and advertising, including inviting people to groups that exist to sell
them something.
- Impersonation. Don't pose as another reader, an author, or as Glyph.
- Other people's private information. Don't post it, even if you found it
somewhere public.
Spoilers
Comments attached to a part of the book beyond the group's current schedule are blurred until
someone chooses to reveal them. That's a courtesy, not a wall. Be decent about what you put in
front of people who haven't got there yet.
Your tools
- Report any post, comment, profile picture, group, or person. Reports come to a
human. Content reported by three different people is hidden straight away while it's reviewed.
- Block anyone. Their posts collapse to a neutral placeholder for you, they never
appear in your mentions, and they're never told. It's one-directional.
- Leave any group, at any time, without asking anyone.
What Scribes can do
A group's Scribe (and any co-Scribe) can delete posts and comments in their group, remove members,
and ban someone from coming back. They can't see anything you've written outside their group, and
they can't see anyone's private highlights, ever.
What we do
Reports are reviewed by a person, usually within a day. Depending on what we find, we may remove
the content, remove the group, suspend the account, or delete it. Serious cases are reported to
the relevant authorities. If we get it wrong, write to
support@glyphreader.app and we'll look again.
Copyright
If something posted in a group infringes your copyright, report it in the app or email
support@glyphreader.app with the work, where it
appears, and how to reach you. We act on valid notices.
Age
Glyph accounts are for people aged 13 and over.
